Communication Support in Operating Systems for Distributed Transactions

This paper describes the communication functions required for distributed transaction processing. The paper begins with a discussion of models that illustrate how a communication subsystem fits into a proposed system architecture. Then, it describes the system and user activities that depend on the communication subsystem. Finally, it uses these activities to motivate the facilities that should be provided by a communication subsystem that supports transaction processing. Technical Report CMU-CS-86-165
